Bayview Bible Church

I recently became a member of the Bayview Bible Church. The congregation currently meets in the Community Center. There is an ongoing drive to produce a free standing church building on the church property across the street.

Bayview needs a church. You folks may belong to another church or are unchurched. Whether one or the other, I urge you to donate to the building fund.  Small donations from a large group of people will put us over the top.

Individuals, businesses and even those outside Bayview. Athol and Careywood are urged to help out.

Send these donations to: Bayview Bible Church, Building fund.

Remembering Rush

Many years ago while living in Federal Way, Washington I did a talk show gig at Tacoma's KLAY. Although my show was live, most of the programing was syndicated. I would sit at a desk with at least two newspapers.

A hot topic at the time was the tanker disaster in Alaska. Preceeding my time slot was the Rush Limbaugh show. His sense of humor and bombastice delivery got me pumped up for my show.

There has never been anyone like him and most probably will never again see or hear the likes of him.

R.I.P. big guy.

Home Care vs Assisted Living

Today's CDA Press has a story from the Catholic church. In it they cite the many nursing home deaths as murder. I agree.

Fortunately, I have home care givers paid for by the Veterans Administration. Too bad for those not in service.

I am 83 years old or will be in March. I believe I wouldn't still be kicking without the VA medical and home care. Speaking of which I need a house keeper for the first two weeks in March since my regular is taking those weeks off to care for her husband after surgery.

Impeachment?

It apparently hasn't occured to Congress that you cannot impeach a private citizen. Trump is a private citizen.

It is past time for the House either kicks Pelosi out or starts to legislate serious laws thast are balanced. If the Democrats continue on the radical lines that have been drawn, the Supreme Court will get busy undoing crap that has seen as unconstitutional.

If anyone needs impeaching it would be Pelosi and Shuman.

Pineapple Express

The weather radar shows a storm starting near Hawaii and streching to hear. This will last for several days, so don't plan on having any picnics.

The only good thing about all this rain is it adds to the mountain snow pack which will be needed next Summer.

This may however, keep people from gathering during this pandemic. Bayview is so quiet you woud think everyone has abandoned the town.

Revolt

For the last four years we have experienced havoc caused by Democrats in denial. Now it's the Trump Republicans in denial.

Right now demonstrators (If you want to call them that) are rioting at and even in that capitol building. Both parties are guilty of extreme behavior. If our Republic is to survive, these people must go home.

Our survival politically is at risk. I oppose this horible behavior. Everyone needs to shut up, stop playing power games and allow our government the opportunity to govern. It is what it is, folks.

I learned yesterday that President Trump sent the demonstratpors to the capital. Is it possible that after Biden is inaugurated, Trump could be indited for inciting to riot? I hope not. That would cause open warfaare between the Biden administration and the militant Trump supporters.

Let's hope that the retoric dies down and people goes back to their regular life. Fer Christ sake we need to somehow mute Pelosi and Shuman.

More unconstitutional activity by Washington Gov

Today, Washington Governor Inslee issued some unilateral rulings regarding gatherings, including relatives from out of state gathering with friends and relatives from out of state, requiring as I understand it, a two week quarantine before being allowed.

Here is a part of the US constution regarding interstate commerce:

Commerce clause, provision of the U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 8) that authorizes Congress “to regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with Indian Tribes.” The commerce clause has traditionally been interpreted both as a grant of positive authority to Congress and as an .unique power to regulate travel between states.
..
"This spike puts us in a more dangerous a position as we were in March,” Inslee said during a press conference Sunday. “And it means, unfortunately, the time has come to reinstate restrictions on activities statewide to preserve the public’s well-being, and to save lives. These were very difficult decisions that have very real consequences to people’s livelihoods. I recognize that and don’t take those impacts lightly, but we must act now and act quickly to slow the spread of this disease.”

This act by a dictitorial governor is unconstutional. Look for federal lawsuits to be filed immediately.

Racial Prejudice

It seems to me that prejudice was quite tame until the Obama era, and possibly stoked by Obama himself.

Let's look at today. You cannot watch television comercials without noticing that every one of them has peple of color in them. Print ads same same, There are more opportunities today for Black people that ever before.

Meanwhile, "Black Lives Matters" and other radical groups are rioting, burning and destroying busnesses because a cop in the mid-west killed a black person. So why are people rioting in Oregon and Seattle when the disaster happened in an upper midwest state. This has to be prejudice in reverse and appears to have the purpose of destroying our governmental structure.

Tree Huggers Loose

Through out the fiercely burning fire on Bernard Peak, though just across the narrow Idlewild Bay lies Farragut State Park. Due to judicious thinning and prescribed fires along the shoreline, not one fire was able to torch our park.

There is a lesson to be learned here.  These preventive measures do work. Another measure can be seen along Highway 54. Thinning under the fire safe program has prevented any fires to take hold. So if you are one of the tree hugging extremists, pay attention to what really works. Crowded forests such as in California become uncontrollable.

Supreme Court

For those on the left, it is important to remember the president's term is for four years, not three and one half. Trump has every right to nominate a replacement Justus before the November election.

 November election

Normally I vote straight ticket GOP unless the GOP candidate is a whacko. But this year we have a recent move-in from California whose ads are composed of slamming his opponents. He is supported by the largely whacko central committee and the deputies. First, the new sheriff is supposed to supervise the troops, not have them as drinking buddies.

Secondly, this new comer flat bought the republican nomination. I will vote for the independent for sheriff, which shouldn't be political and I definitely don't want a sheriff that lies and  throws mud at his adversaries.

On another subject, I have determined that the U.S Forest Service is fighting the Bernard Peak fire with a prayer for more rain. In the week that could have ended the fire after Saturdays rain one helicopter with a dipping bucket could have put the fire out by hitting any remaining hot spots . Praying for rain has cost us a ton of trees.

Shop Local

What with the new Crossroads Shopping Center, we have some choices.

But are they good ones?  On the one hand, the new Super One saves us the onerous trip to Hayden when shopping. BUT The soon to be opening convenience store and Auto Zone parts store are not needed. We have Victory Auto Parts and Little Town Market, plus the Bayview Mercantile, all locally owned and operated.

I urge all of you to shop with our local businesses and freeze out the national chains. As far as the car wash is concerned, well... I live on an unimproved dirt road. Think support for your friends and neighbors please.

When Givers Rule

I was feeling sorry for myself earlier, then I stopped in at the Bayview Mercantile. The cashier slipped two boxes of facial tissues into my bag. When I got home I noticed my name had been added to each box. I subsequently learned that an unknown person bought them and asked that they be delivered to me.

Later, I notice a woman getting out of her car in front of my place. She stepped up on my deck and handed me a bag. It was a care package from the Bayview Christian Church.

Such neighbors we have. I am now stocked up with tissues of both kind and plenty of food. But other seniors are probably in need, which probably will mean a lady from the church will be visiting soon.

To make sure connections are made, please leave a post stating your age and/or infirmity long with a phone number which I will pass on to church members. God bless you all.

Business Closures

Of Bayview businesses closed hopefully temporarily, are the Captain's Wheel Restaurant, and Ralph's. These are prohibiting inside seating. Ralph's is currenly serving takeout which can be eaten in the various outside areas. Also takeout is still aailable.

As soon as the situation at the Wheel is clarified, I will report it. Right now, Kevin and Daveana are ready to serve you.  The Merc is open with required hand sanitizers provided.

The key to our survival is do not hoard. What you take that you don't need is taking it away from those that do, some desperately.

Unintended Consequences

With Washington bars and restaurants closed, followed by Coeur d'Alene, Hayden and Post Falls, is sending diners and drinkers to areas that are still open.

Already, I am seeing an influx of Spokane County licence plates. Villages like Bayview will now see transplanted virus carriers arriving  here. This will possibly save these areas some sickness, but

only to shift the danger to us multiplied. So much for isolating.

(I interrupted to answer the door. A kind soul handed me a box of kleenex in response to a facebook post asking for same. )

Such generosity was offset though by the Bastards that have stashed a year's supply of T/P and other products needed by those of us that have trouble getting around. These Assholes should be shot.

The risk has been shifted to the suburbs by selfish towns.

CDA Press story

I followed the story in the cda press re: the 23rd. If none of you read the paper, that isn't my fault. I did however not know the identity of the on duty bartender, nor did I name her. Perhaps it would have been better if I clarified my target. It was management policy, or lack thereof that was a t fault. Kim is one of my favorite [people, one that I wouldn't ever personally attack. Read the paper, fools.

Unreasonable Fear

Today on facebook I read from many sources that there is a run on toilet paper. The stores are rationing it and folks are stocking up napkins, paper towels, and kleenex.

What the fuck is wrong with you. If you stock up in a normal way, without filling a room with unneeded stuff, there will be plenty to go around.

Unneeded  panic will produce a shortage of these items, not the virus. Stay away from crowds, cut back on social gatherings, and if  anything, just buy a few face masks. Do not hoard.

Stay out of bars, restaurants and theaters or  for that matter, avoid crowds. Then just go on with your life.

Where this ridiculous panic is going is creating an emergency, not solving one. Get a life, folks.

Historical vs Hysterical

The collective ego of the far left seems to feel that if something unusual happens,we control it by our collective actions. We are told by the experts that global warming is caused by coal and other related stuff.

An example or two, I am 82 years old. In my life experience, coal stoves were in every home except those with furnaces. A few years later most switched to oil stoves. Now these radicals claim we are currently on the road to hell anyway, even with electric and gas fuels. But lets regress back to our global climate in the past.

The last Ice Age, but not the only one, affected our area, Washington and Idaho. It was labeled  the Pleistocene Epoch. The last 15000 years covered our area with the Cordilleran. Ice Sheet. One result was a 300 foot drop in sea level.

As the ice crept forward  , it measured about 7000 feet deep as it crossed what is now the U.S./Canadian border. It dwindled down to about 3000 at its terminus near Seattle. The Strait of Juan de Fuca, Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands were terra firma. These waterways were formed as the ice sheets retreated, gouging out new routes for the soon to be islands and inlets letting ocean water to flow inland.

During the periods between ice ages, Southern Greenland became a farming community founded by Danish explorer, Lief Erickson. There is too much information for just one post, so I'll sign off for now with follow ups later.

Next up,the great flood on the Clark Fork River.

Hans Neubauer, RIP

Yet another area icon has been lost. I wrote a tribute mostly dictated by his lovely three step-daughters several years ago. Today I must write another.

Hans arrived with friend and co-worker when Chan bought the Scenic Bay Marina, thence when the developer, who had bought up troubled resort properties got the y herself..opportunity to snap up these resorts at pennies on the dollar.

As before, the tribute was that he was a great Pop. This time it is about his work ethic, his integrity and his friendly approach to doing business. His loyalty to Chan is legendary.

We will all miss him. It is our understanding that Lynn, his widow does not want to run J.D.s by herself so reopening is up in the air. We understand that there will be a tribute this Saturday, time unknown. (2:00 pm)

Scenic Bay Marina  won't be the same without him.

Abolish the boat launch?

I was chatting with a woman yesterday about the dangers of boats launching, swimmers in the water and fishing all happening at the same time.

She had a simple solution. Abolish the boat launch and substitute a swimming beach. Leave the docks for boaters to access local businesses.

As intriguing as this sounds, boat trailers would not be crowding parking, and boats could launch at Farragut. I'd like to hear some comments on this.
