Deja Vu, All Over Again

The Vista Bay Marina is undergoing more problems as Waterford Park Marinas allegedly went past what they were permitted for in remodeling the old restaurant there. Those close to the situation tell us that they had a permit to do some limited demolition, essentially,to replace the roof, which turned out to be a whole new building, or close to it. Pictured above, is what is left of the once proud Vista Bay restaurant. Note the lower right corner, where the un-permitted showers were built four years ago. I suppose though, that under the circumstances, that is a moot point.

Closed for the ten years prior to Waterford Park purchasing the marina, many changes have taken place. It is my understanding that the decision to turn the building into a clubhouse prompted the rebuild. Having participated in the original remodel back in 2004, it appeared to me that the building was sound, other than a blanket of bat guano that covered the attic floor.Long gone are the mobile home renters that had as their Summer homes, lived there many years. Some wonder why the company didn't get all their permits prior to evicting the tenants, but then it's only money, right?

Permits? "I don't need no stinking permits" is Holland's philosophy. Apparently, he thinks he is above the law especially since he has many Ex-Kootenai County Planners and an Attorney on his payroll. Shame on the Commissioners and the local agnecy responsible for regulation and enforcement. So much for any of Holland's group being a "good steward" of the community as they continue to proclaim. The good and honest citizens of Bayview will continue with due diligence, but will the community ever get the help it need to keep unauthorized and unlawful development in check? I certainly hope that there will be some form of accountability SOON!

The Youngs were apopletic when they saw the destruction. Mr. Holland signed a letter stating he understood the limits to the permit, and then ordered his workers to tear it apart. The Youngs are trying to contain the man, but as we all know, Bob gets whatever he wants, regardless of who works for him. How many locals worked for him and quit because he wouldn't follow their good advice?

The above comment while anonymous is from someone that is in a position to know of what they speak and can be assumed to be legitimate.

Perhaps it is time for the Building department to say, OK, you made your bed, now lay in it. One wonders what would happen if they just refused to allow the building to be rebuilt and require it to be left in it's present condition.

It doesn't matter that the "Young's were apopletic when they saw the destruction or that they are trying to contain the man". They knew who and what they were getting in bed with before deciding to become a contracted employee of Holland's. Too little too late. That goes for the Wetzels, Erica Grub and Dennis Scott as well. Obviously these individuals don't care about their personal reputation and character. Actions speak louder than words and nothing any of them can do or say at this point will regain their reputation, dignity or character to most of the Bayview Community. I just hope the money was worth it, if they even got paid. Good luck Holland employees. I hope it was worth selling your soul.

Waterford Park Homes has applied for a re-model permit with the County. It would have allowed a remodeling of up to 50% of the value of the building...no more. It has not been approved or issued by the County as of Wednesday.

Maybe the IRS should look into some of the folks at the building department.
I bet they are not paying taxes on the bribes they receive from evil bob.

To 8:08 comment. RIGHT ON, however, please do not forget that the County Commissioners are the ultimate Boss of P&Z. I really don't think the Commissioners are taking bribes, but the fear of the County beining sued by Bobby Boy and Erica Grubb are greater than any bribe. Rumor has it that Erica has already been involved and successful in a law suit or litigation for a substantial amount against of money against the County. Isn't it a shame that the fear of doing the right thing out weighs the risk of a law suit. Instead the County just keeps issuing "Red Tags & Cease and Desist Orders", that are never enforced and are eventually litigated. Just a slap on the hands for Bobby Boy and more money for Erica. Meanwhile, the Bayview Citizens will keep doing the County's job by holding Holland and Company accountable and at least be a pain in the rearend to both of them.

To 8:08 comment. I also think the IRS should look into all of Holland's employees as well. I'll bet he is paying them off "in-kind", meaning condos and perks. I'll bet no taxes are being paid on those "in-kind" transactions. That would really help Bob to stretch a dollar.

i think the Bayview Residents need to take a more active role: write letters to the editor, get a rally going, put up signs in front yards in an effort to get media attention. Perhaps Bob will get the message to move on out of town.
