New Traditions

Today marked the first annual polar plunge here in Bayview. Not to be out gunned by Sanders Beach in Coeur d'Alene, a few hardy souls put the word out that there would be a mid-winter swim at the public boat launch at 2:00 pm New Years day. Sensing that there shouldn't be a conflict with boat launching, they went ahead without the blessing of the Kootenai county Waterways people, not to mention Fish & Game.

Well, nary a boat approached to challenge the launching area, but over thirty hardy souls, or perhaps retarded souls showed up all prepared to bare their skins. Actually for the most part, skins were not overly bare with one exception. There is always one. A fat male individual showed up in a scanty thing approaching a thong. Once dressed down, he pranced about thrusting his pelvis forward in a sexual manner. I guess we could have survived that, if it weren't the dozen or so kids ranging from three years old to maybe 7, watching with some real odd expressions. Unfortunately, nobody stood up and suggested he was on the border of indecent exposure. At the very least, he was an obnoxious asshole. Needless to say, his picture will not appear here.

It became obvious that the shore side of the Patio was grounded, when after the place was packed, more, fresh from the chilly 37 degree water, crowded into the overloaded building.I'm here to report that the flotation under the Patio is doing just fine, as the building listed toward the lake but didn't attempt to sink. Above are some pictures that I managed to sneak out of the place of shivering bodies.

A kokanee spawning bed?
Please don't tell me that this is a serious concern. The public launch area, is exactly that - public.
Heaven forbid that we have a little bit of fun. I hope my response is completely unwarranted. If it is not......I want to cry.

I had at least three comments on this subject of the spawning beds. One was obviously sarcastic, but the others, I guess, weren't.

To clear this up, I occasionally resort to subtle humor when writing.Sometimes, as I have found out the hard way, humor does't translate well in the written word, or at least subtle doesnt.

There was never any danger to the spawning beds. First, the swimmers, er ... nutcakes that actally jumped into the water, did so either off the docke or down the concrete ramp. Sheesh, where the hell is the sence of humor nowadays.

I would be more concerned about the exhibitionist and his rude behavior in front of children. Disgusting! Speaking of, Herb, I think it is time to take the picture of the female exhibitionist from the Annuals' party off the blog.

I suspect that while the young lady is clad in a bathing suit, and is very pretty, she is not exhibiting any behavior or appearance that is by today's or even yesterday's standards, cannot realistically be called an exhibitionist. I also suspect that this comment originated from the same person that objected to the picture last summer. At that time, I moved it down to the bottom of the stack so that it would take a more subtle position. I find your logic unreasonable and out of step with the 21st century. I may post other pictures in the place of the ones that I have currently, but I am the judge of what is proper on my blog. You can, of course choose not to read it if it offends you. To please a broad blend of readers, their are many differing viewpoints with every reader. Please understand that this is not your blog, nor is it to be controlled by anyone other than myself. I spoke with the young lady's Dad the other day and he pointed out that she no longer looks the same. Having said all of this, please do not make any attempts to censor my blog. Since she worked at the Wheel, she has been married and is about two months from having her first child.

Not trying to sensor, just tired of the picture. My you sure are defensive. Best wishes to the gal and her baby. Hope everything goes well for her. FYI - I have never commented on this picture before so no I am not that person.
