Open Letter To Bayview

Dear Bayview Friends and Neighbors of Terry Shepherd,

Bayview has had some loving and caring citizens over the years.
Today we need to help one of our own. Terry has looked out for
and cared for many of us. Free Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner
come to mind. She has never turned away any that were hungry or broke.
Terry provided care for those who needed, not only food but help
managing their medical and personal needs.

Terry's Cafe was closed this year because the landlord would not repair
the items which the Fire Chief said had to be fixed before reopening.
When it became apparent that the building was not going to be brought
up to code, Terry moved her business to Spirit Lake. She has been sued
for $14000 in rent for the balance of her lease. We felt that Bayview
should repay her for the kindness shown to us over the years, so we helped
her work with an attorney to resolve this issue. The settlement cost Terry
over $4500.
So, friends of Bayview, if you see it in your heart to help Terry defray
the costs in this matter, we would appreciate it.

Please leave any contributions at the Bayview Mercantile or mail them
to Terry Shepherd, c/o P O Box 95, Bayview, ID, 83803

Thank You,
Chuck Waller

so who fixed all the problems so the new tenant could move in??

Who begged Chief Krill to shut her down? Hmm might want to investigate the facts before posting incorrect information.

Wow .... she must have been making tons of money if she could pay $14000 in rent. Why should the public subsidize her if she was making a killing. Looks like another marketing scam to collect some free money - thru public sympathy.

If gutter whaler is so concern, why doesn't he just foot the bill and take credit or send his buddy bayview thug to collect from some old lady. Obviously the drunk lost for a good reason so don't make a savior out of a loser or provide cover with some good deed for the crap she was going to throw away anyway.

Lots of bad Karma flying around here. "Hate" can be dangerous. Sometimes it comes back to bite you. And greed can be even worse. At least we all know that Terry was never greedy.

recently terminated VP of the Chamber of Commerce

Sounds like greed is a 2 way street. Just because you steal from one and hand out to another does not make it right. If you owe an obligation, pay it and don't claim you don't by claiming you are not greedy or helping the needy. Besides do you know all the details or are you just blowing smoke as usual. I do not know all the details but if someone goes to court and loses, I assume the rule of law applied. So just give us all a break and don't create BS out of nothing and create hate.

Cindy Post Grandy
recently terminated VP of the Chamber of Commerce -
Wow what is this terminated???? Who fired her?? Cindy did a pretty good job dividing the community. Chuck and Bill, better start a retirement fund raising for Cindy - at least we all know Cindy was partisan.

So are we to understand that the chamber is taking some type of action with Cindy Post Grandy being recently terminated VP of the Bayview Chamber of Commerce? When did this occur?
Why was she terminated?
Is this a move to create healing or more disfuction within the Chamber and the community of business's it serves?
Was the DAC pro or con to this?
Did the "Time Out blog" cause some to think of what our freedoms and independance is all about?

Terry was never greedy - How could you call her landlord greedy if he settled for $4500 for $14000 she owed him?? Sounds like she good a hell of a deal. Looks like the landlord got screwed.

There sure are quite a few "comments" from those who are afraid to state their names. At least I am not a coward.

BTW I believe that Terry "won" her case by only having to pay $3,000.
The other $1,500 was for legal fees.

Will this new so-called "tenant" of the cafe have fundraisers for locals who lose someone in a hunting accident? Or, because of an article in the paper, have a fundraiser for a little girl who had burns over 50% of her body? A girl That Terry didn't even know.

If MacDonald's ever sells outside of their family, Bayview will have only one majority owner and that will be the end of the community spirit.

At first I thought this was all a mind game, but I believe the game is now over. As far as I'm concerned "he" won; but I think those who truly love Bayview lost - big time.

And "he" just lost two fairly regular customers at his cafe. We'll never go in that cafe again; as much as I like the staff that works there. So sorry guys.

To Norma Jean, Dennis, Theresa, you can stop posting anonymous, we all know it's you.
Cindy Post violated her duty as Vice President when she allowed Terry to come and sell. She had an obligation to the members of the Chamber who voted for one vendor one time only. And yes, Cindy should step down, actions have consequences.
Calling Terry a drunk is awful and Herb should not of allowed that post. This is a character assassination if there ever was one. Herb, you are just after the blog hits and this is not the way to get them.

If Terry paid $1,400 in rent, she overpaid.

As for the DAC, there the best thing this town has. We need to thank them everyday for stopping a gigantic parking lot across the street from the mercantile. I know i do every time I drive by.

I don't understand the referrence to me allowing a comment alleging that Terry is/was a drunk. I dont see her name associated with the word on any of the comments. I guess it is alright if I am insulted or my motives called into question but not if that person is your friend. Double standards abound.

Actually I have been pretty busy these past few days with work to sit at a computer and post on Herb's blog. I also do not use my work computer for personal issues.

There are many in the local community who have donated generously to those in need.

To misquote Herb is inexcusable. Herb is trying to present both sides.

To the slam of the new owners of Terry's, why waste your breath and time. They are the new tenet and judge them in their overall picture of service to Bayview. The who what and why's prior attitude do not present or allow for the other side or possibly the reality of the bottom line.

I bet you remember the good old days....wait life has changed.... perhaps you should hire a city guru (may be J K) and have life defined as you others needed to meet your adgenda--- the standard you set at times is with no regard for the others who live, work are really are the backbone of why Bayview and our other communities exist.

Some have money and some don't but we all should have commen sense and never put ourselves above another.

Final question is how many of the DAC and Chamber live in the town of Bayview

Thank you Jamie for calling out names. If you want to guess my name and post it on the blog, it starts with L.

so who fixed all the problems so the new tenant could move in??

Obviously Chan paid for the repairs to HIS building as a landlord should to be able to reopen it for business.

Many of the reported violations were easy fixes and Terry took care of those, but why just because she leases the building, should anyone expect her to be responsible for repairs of a structural nature to a building she doesn't own? I would have ask the Chief to shut me down too rather than personally foot the bill to repair Chan's dilapidated building.

One needs to find out the facts before making comments. Terry did not fix the easy fixes for the problems associated with the building, in fact she added more violations before the Fire Chief came down to inspect again. The violations were not structural to the building but instead were violations such as overuse of extension cords and storage of combustible items, in other words junk.
