Bayview Daze Are Upon Us Again

Most years, Bayview has an exclusive with our fireworks show and our street parade, plus of course, our street fair. Every seventh year though, the 4Th of July falls on a Saturday, which is always the day Bayview celebrates. This is that 7th year. That means everyone is going to have to choose between the various venues, rather than enjoy at least two of them.

It really boils down to whether most are aware that our fireworks display is second to none and you can have fun all day and into the night with live music, fireworks and many other enjoyable pursuits, including getting out on the lake. The other option, is to cram your family into downtown Coeur d'Alene, park a half mile away from the action, see a ho hum fireworks display, then spend the next three hours trying to exit the city.

Bayview is still a huge secret to many Spokane and even Coeur d'Alene residents, but more and more, folks are opting for the simple life here, where you can walk the entire downtown without fear of being run over, enjoy the fine food and spirits served by the various bars and restaurants.

The parade this year, will be a bit of a mystery, since we don't require advance registration. Undoubtedly, some will head for the big city, but many others, for the aforementioned reasons, enjoy coming to Bayview Daze year after year. We hear that we'll have a kazoo band, plus many others, including rumors that new and exciting entries will be there this year for the first time.

A lighted boat parade will precede the fireworks display, Saturday night. For line up information or any other questions, call Cindy@ 683-1859.

On behalf of the Bayview Chamber of Commerce which sponsors the event, Babs and the Community Council, I want to welcome all of you to this year's extravaganza. When you get here, please be on the lookout for donation cans. Our fireworks are totally paid for by donations.

I think leap year puts a hole in your "every seven year" theory. :)

Actually, fireworks do not run by a clock. It has to get dark enough to have a clear contrast for the display. That usually occurs around 10:00 pm, but they use a light meter for the decision.
