Tuesday @ 6:00 pm at the Athol community Center will mark perhaps the last opportunity for local citizens to make an input to the radical changes proposed by the fire commissioners. Everyone that can attend to ask questions or make statements should make this a must meeting. A ground swell of concern over the precipitous termination of the chief and the proposed merger of management with Northern Lakes Fire District.
This is not a good time to stick one's head into the sand, as there will be far reaching effects of these moves. With Commissioner Weise's resignation and the pending resignation of Kirk Quillin, Little Blacktail holding around 30 or so citizens may end up with representation and leaving Bayview without it's own commissioner.
This would probably result in a total breakup of the Timberlake experiment, bringing Bayview back to a local all volunteer department, which we had up until about eight years ago. These issues are way too important to stay quiet about regardless of which side you take.
I will be in Spokane and can't get back until aroiund 8:30. I would appreciate some feedback from those who attend.

If you think that Kootenai County expanding its dept to take over the Timberlake District would be cheaper than a 5-9% tax levy, Ive got some swamp land in Florida id like to sell you.
Umm, Herb, I don't think there's any ground swell. it looks like you, the fire fighter's union, Krill himself and some elements from the VFF's - current, has beens, and would-be's.
Herb Your doing a great job keep up the good work. And to all you firefighters you guys are doing one of the greatest services there is risking your life every day to save another, it just may be a medical call down the road a few miles but everytime those lights go on and you drive down that road a bit faster than most of would your putting it on the line for one of our loved ones, keep up the good work there a hell of a lot of us here that support you and keep your heads up high what those commisioners did was discusting and I dont think they know what kind of storm they got them selves into.
Out of all the comments regarding the current fire districts activities, only one chose to sarcastically suggest that there are only 3 0r 4 people that disagree whith current problems. I drove by the community center afer 8:00 pm on the way back from spokane this evening. There wasn't any parking within two blocks of the meeting. If Krill had been there, he probably would have cited them for overcrowding. Don't tell me that nobody cares, you infantile jerk!
I just rejected a personal attack on another. I will restate my policy so that the most dense can understand.
If you name someone. Me or anyone else in a critical way and sign it anonymous, it will not be published. If you truly believe an attack is warrented and it's not too far out, then sign your name. Throwing rocks at someone while hiding is not good citizenship. It is cowardly.
Herb, I Think you misunderstood, or is it possible? maybe you misstated my intent for your own grand standing purposes.
I didn't say "no one cares" about current problems. I personally attended the meeting.. (there was plenty of room)
I intended to convey that I didn't think there was a "groundswell of concern for the precipitous termination of Chief Krill" mainly, and having been at the meeting, I think I was right.
I suppose I should have distinguished that from the management contract issue.
Of course there was a lot of concern for the change of entering into a management contract with Northern lakes, and abandoning maintaining administration locally. The districts aren't being merged or consolidated and that wasn't proposed at this time.
Why didn't you pop over Herb? The meeting continued at least another hour. you could have caught Chief Marcus speaking before the board and the public. It was somewhat reassuring. It was comical the way commissioner Guinn behaved.
I totally agree with Local Athol said. The meeting was very good some very hard questions got answered and by the correct people, not by rumors. And yes Jon Quinn was very comical to say the least. To bad more people did not show but I suspect that is because most of the Commissioners finally did what they where voted in to do "Take care of the Citizens.
Herb,
Thanks you for trying to present what is happening around the area.
I was impressed with the way last night's meeting was run. The meeting was informative, no one got out of line, and the commissioners were professional, well except for maybe Guinn.

Some have suggested that those that I have quoted as having serious reservations about the radical change in the fire districts's plan are in a vast minority. Well, I went back and checked on my site meter, which, incidentally, is open to all. It's a little box at the bottom of the blog. If you had clicked on it it would have shown that for the last week, 1407 people thought my blog was worth visiting. Check it out. It's there for whomever wants the information.
Does this mean you are a popular kind of guy? Keep up the good work Herb and thanks!

Herb, Just because they visit your blog doesn't mean they all have "serious reservations" about "the radical change".
blog hit counts offer no information other than current popularity. It simply means people are interested.
Pretty much everythging that needs to be said has been said. I won't be commenting on this in the future unless other developments occur, nor will I publish any more snarky comments on the subject. Once again I had to reject a comment that broke my explicit rules. Attack the message by suggesting what you would do, not the messenger. This was a borderline situation and I probably would have let it go if the author had identified him or her self. Throwing rocks anonymously, as I have said many times, is a cowardly act. I guess some are just slow learners.
