More Changes Acomin'

Within a few days, the Bay Cafe will reopen under new management. Henry and Sheryl Dean, now operating the Buttonhook and Floating Patio, have leased the cafe and after the hood is cleaned, in probably 3 to 4 days, it will be opend for Breakfast, Lunch and dinner. Breakfast will be available from 6:30 am. The plan is to remain open all year rather than seasonally, such as the Buttonhook.

Live music at the 'Hook was so successful recently, that the Bells will be invited back again at least twice. Labor Day Weekend they will play outdoors on the north lawn, weather permitting.

Earth to Dean's
Earth to Dean's

Hope they weren't hoodwinked into signing a three year lease.
If this winter is anything like last year there isn't need for another breakfast restr.
Between the Wheel, Ralph's cafe and now the Bay Cafe all splitting profits I'd say all will suffer.
Someone needed to clue the Dean's in about Bayview.

I would guess that both the Buttonhook and the Wheel will close for the Winter, leaving just Ralph's and the Bay Cafe. The bottom line is the business with the least overhead will survive, with larger venues either closing for the season, or sucking wind.

Someone has. I did. The problem with those that have a lot of experience in bar/restaurant operations, is egos. They have to learn everything the hard way themselves. I'm out of the advise business for the duration and like the rest of you, will wait and watch.

I too have the done the advise route with the folks at The Hook. Herb did you tell the Dean's about winterizing? These folks do not understand the concept of who own's the property.

Not sure about The Wheel but I do know if the manager does not get her head out of proverbal dark place, The Wheel will have no worries. It is sad to hear "the food is wonderful but the service sucks."

Ralph will be just fine.

I had a blow out valve installed during the repairs that were dpone as a result of the pipes freezing. They intend to use that and anti-freeze in the traps, etc. They should be alright. There is no confusion as to who owns the building.

Good friends of mine had dinner at the Wheel last Sunday and had prime rib and said it was terrible. (Do you suppose it was left over from Fiday and dried out by Sunday?).
One returned it for top sirloin which was better but not great. All three said the service was okay.
Seems the food is not consistent. The fish, in the fish and chips order is dry too. Heard good things about the chicken wrap.
Pat needs to be on top of things a bit more.

No kidding. We ate at The Wheel last night, food was excellent. Service had improved.

Don't think Pat is in the area.
