Weather Or Not

Well, today was/is breezy. Actually, quite windy. Here in Bayview, the storm pruned a few trees but no fallen ones. Having high ground on three sides helps alot when the wind comes from the West. Power has been uninterrupted too.

Boaters are starting to tentatively head for the water in preparation for real Spring. The restaurant situation is bleak right now in Bayview, as both sit down full service restaurants are closed. Chan Krupiah is working hard to get the Buttonhook open by the first of May. We wish him good luck, since it doesn't appear that the Captain's Wheel will survive the melee between owners. As usual in these matters everyone ends up losing.

Toblers Marina is close to opening their boat repair facility at JD's and will probably be open by the first of May, also.

My column in the Spokesman-Review will publish this Sunday with a family picture of the Haddon's. Bayview's first settlers were Elmer and wife Ozelia and eleven kids. Jessica who lives in Bayview, is the great-great-granddaughter of Elmer & Ozelia. The first installment of the four part series on Bayview's centennial will publish on April 18, God willing and the creek don't rise.

Speaking of the centennial, most business owners have stepped up with nice sized donations, joining over fifty caring citizens of Bayview to fund centennial activities.

Good what kind of food this time?? smoking or non? bar or no bar? music no music???

Hard to say this early, but I would guess non-smoking. It worked out at the patio and other places closer to town. Most are happy to step outside for a smoke. There is and will be a bar and as to entertainment, again guessing, it will depend on summer traffic and income. Most likely at least karaoke and maybe mucb more. I'll be working there, probably as greeter or maitre dei. I cud nvr spel french.

lots of town folks won't patronize it because it's chan's. that's a fact

I appreciate your concern, but it won't be Chan's restaurant. Unlike other arrangements, he is leasing it out to an outside person. I can guarantee you'll like him and the new crew. The only involvement of Chan's is that he owns the building, not the business. You could use the same criteria refgarding the Patio. It is also leased and is not under Chan's control.

Chan leased it last year same promblem just different owner you have a personal realtionship here don't forget this! hope it works but don't think sooo!! maybe the new owner will let things happen Steve would not (just hear say) but know the old Bartender wanted bands and other things but was unable too get because of Chan Steve who ever wish you luck but no one can seem to make that place work,Patio works cause owners take risk good luck!

You are still not understanding me, or I'm not explaining this clearly. Last year, Chan ran the Buttonhook himself, with Steve cooking and Joni bartending. It didn't work out for several reasons that I'm not going into here. In a short while, I'll announce all of the details, but your last doesn't represent what is really going on. Let me try again.

Chan is leasing out the building for an entreprenuer to operate. He is not in any way involved with business decisions, which he would only have authority to do if he still ran it. He will not be involved, just as he is not involved with the patio. I thought I made that comparison before. I think everyone will be pleased with the new owner of the business. (Just not the buildng)

Please stand by for a more thorough explanation in about a week.

I'm not sure to whom you are referring regarding a personal relationship. Not Chan. We have strictly a business relationship.

I'm not sure whether we have one or more than one commentor here. I think I have explained the situation at length, but if anyone wants a personal and private conversation with me about this development. Please call me at 208-477-6161 and I'll try to answer all of your questions without taking up any more space in the comments section of which I don't seem to be able to get straight.
